About the event

Walking into Bucking Boar Maze and Theme Park, you instantly feel at ease. A throng of families are sipping coffee, watching children as they ride around the field on bikes and toys. Behind them, a petting zoo offers a glimpse of what life is like in rural Waikato. Our resident animals include a pony, sheep, goat, ducks and a few chickens. For the youngest members of the family, a sandpit offers another place to play in the shade. Inside, table games attract the older children with pool, hockey and table tennis a guaranteed hit.    

But it's further down this beautiful rural section that the real action happens. Wander past the petting zoo and everything becomes clear; there's no doubt this is the place to be for children and adults alike.    

Each January a large field is turned into maze - through which visitors traverse, passing six stations to complete the course. This year, the maize maze is designed on a computer using GPS coordinates then downloaded onto a device. It is then cut out by a tractor/mower and levelled out. This year's design is two detailed hot air balloons that are visible from above.    

However that's not all our family-run business has to offer. On a bank adjacent to the maze, adrenalin runs high as queues of visitors line up to whizz down what can only be described as Waikato's best outdoor waterslides. There is 3 to enjoy, A fibreglass  55-meter slide complete with twists and turns, dual race inflatable slide and a kids 40 meter inflatable slide that allows people of all ages to experience the fun of sliding through the countryside with only the sounds of nature to enjoy. Here, guests are all taken through stringent safety procedures before taking their turn sitting on a specially designed mat and taking off down the hill.    

If you're feeling hot just thinking of all this activity, make sure you enjoy a real fruit ice cream from the kiosk at the end of the day. Bring a picnic lunch and stay all day - there's something for everyone at this stunning yet relaxed countryside theme park.    

A ten-minute drive from Hamilton, this is definitely an attraction not to miss if you're after something fun to do with all ages this summer.  Open from 10am - 5pm every weekend until the end of March.
